I am exhausted to deal with the new primary monsters. They are messier than the classes I taught before. In order to save energy for Isabella, I bought a 'voice care', a movable microphone and speaker (I seldom use speakers before). Hope I can have enough energy to play with Isabella after school.
Nowadays, children are self-centered. They are not afraid of adults. My colleague told me that she asked one of my monsters to stand up because he kept on playing after recess yesterday. When she warned him not to be naughty anymore then this little monster replied her, 'Don't you know that…I am very naughty!!'
And today, I asked the same monster to change the seat with his classmate. He asked me why. So I told him that was because he was very naughty so he had to sit near me. Then he answered, 'Maybe I will be naughtier!'
Facing this naughty monster, I must not let him go easily so I took him to the staff room at recess. When I asked him to go with me, he said, 'ohhhh!!! I will be in trouble.' He felt disturbed as if I was the one who made mistakes. In the staff room, I requested him to promise me to behave better in future. ARRRR!!!! He answered, 'I can't as I am naughty. I don't think I can make it, even make a half promise.' So I used my eyes and voice to express my eagerness (if you know me well, you can imagine). And he promised me at last.
Even though he is naughty, I think it is very funny to talk with him. Most importantly, other than the family background, I found that one of the reasons why he is naughty is that people around him always tell him that he is naughty so he gets this message and do naughty things. It was very nice to talk with him as I could discovered the best way to communicate and cope with him.
