Read 'Sense and Sensibility'. After reading five Jane Austen's books, I found that people in 18XX in England used to link people's income with matrimony together. They introduced people by describing their income. They used people's income to judge the appropriateness of the marriage. It was interesting. It seems that keeping a good living and procuring enough income are more important than satisfaction of affection. The heroines of Jane's books were lucky because all of them could get the true love and good fortune finally.
I do not object this view entirely since having better living conditions is important. However, I think we don't have to talk about it with others. It is more decent to keep it in mind.
